I don’t know about you, but every so often, I need a really good dose of creative inspiration! I am so thankful for the abundance of resources that we have available to us today.
Small spaces have great potential when it comes to house interior design. Make more room while giving each space your unique design expression by applying these 7 rules the pros use!
Honestly, the idea of paneling for the walls never enters the arena. Don’t even get me started on wallpapering; that’s a whole different evil monster.
My two sisters and I were excited about the first Thanksgiving at our own home after spending 4 years in a nearby orphanage following our mother’s death. We had a fire going in the fireplace in the log cabin and elder Sister Wilma was busy preparing dinner and shouting orders for us to help.
We couldn’t afford a turkey but the fattest chicken in the barnyard and a smoked ham , sweet potatoes , green beans, corn and fluffy buttermilk biscuits made a “gracious ” plenty as we say in the deep South.
Here’s a great new idea for recycling your old car tires, why don’t you try growing strawberries using tires? Preparing and growing strawberries using tires is actually quite easy and will provide an inexpensive and unique addition to any garden.
In order to start growing strawberries using tires, place the rubber tire in the desired location in your yard. Choose an area that receives a good amount of sun.
You will then need to fill three quarters of the bottom of the tire with plastic bottles. This helps to create drainage, filler and base for the strawberries.
Garlic is essential in any home vegetable garden and early autumn is the best time to plant. If you are planning on growing garlic from seeds, the cloves will NEED to be in the ground at the beginning of autumn when there is still warmth in the ground.
The soil is best when it is friable, a necessity rather than a luxury. Gardeners with clay soil will have as much trouble as those with sandier soils. Clay soils are going to restrict bulb growth the same way as they encourage carrot bifurcation. Sandy soils will not be able to provide the moisture or nutrients that growing garlic demands.
If you really want to grow a good crop of garlic, your soil needs to be perfect. It must be slightly acidic, so adding compost or manure into the bed will work wonders.
It began with just a square or two but over the course of a few years it has grown to a dozen or more . At our local park there’s an area of raised planter beds that have been divided for both individuals and charities to raise their own flowers, vegetables and some herbs.
It’s quite an impressive sight to see a mini-farm growing in the city. Tomatoes, onions, lettuce, beans, cabbage, okra, squash and many other vegetables are lovingly tended by their owners.
A few days ago I was passing by and admiring a group planting their area and it was great to see what pleasure the adults took in it. I can only imagine their beaming faces when they at last are able to harvest their bounty.
